Didim is a peninsula with Mugla and Akbuk bay to the east, the Aegean sea to the west and South and Bafa lake and Menderes river to the North. It is a favorite holiday area with its long clean beaches and natural enviroment and historical buildings. Altinkum is the main tourist town in Didim.(Altinkum means golden sands). Didim is perfectly located only 88 Km. from Bodrum airport and is also in close proximity to both Kusadasi and Izmir. Didim was an important sacred site in the ancient Greek world. Didiyma means twin and refers to the twins Apollo and Artemis (children of Zeus and Leto) The Temple of Apollo stil stands and attracts hundreds of pilgrims and holiday makers to the area.
